Improvements along a stretch of the Yellowhead Highway in the North Thompson have been completed ahead of schedule.
The project to pave 48.5 km of Hwy. 5 between the North Thompson Bridge in Avola and Whitewater Bridge was undertaken by Anderson Construction of Kelowna.
“Hwy. 5 between Kamloops and Valemount is a major north-south corridor through the Interior, moving people and goods to and from northern Alberta,” said Stone. “Heavy trucks use the corridor throughout the year, so resurfacing this segment of the highway will increase the efficiency of this route for commercial traffic and make it safer for all motorists.”
The $7.5-million project included paving and repairing the shoulders of the road, increasing the overall strength of the highway.
