TRU WolfPack women’s volleyball kicked off their 2016 exhibition season Friday, Aug. 26, in Burnaby.
The WolfPack, who have only practiced as a team for less than a week fell to the host SFU Clan (NCAA Div II) 3-1 in Burnaby.
The scores were 25-23, 25-18, 24-26, 25-20 in favour of the Clan, who have been practicing for nearly a month as they get set for the start of their regular season.
“We were rusty but I did like the compete level of the girls tonight,” said WolfPack head coach Chad Grimm. “We got everyone onto the floor and they got equal time. It was a good start to our trip.”
The WolfPack now head south for exhibition matches against Oregon State, Seattle University and Portland State beginning Sunday, Aug 28, in Corvalis Ore.
Thompson Rivers then returns home to play in exhibition tournaments at Alberta and Trinity Western before opening their 2016-17 Canada West season on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre on Friday, Oct. 28. Their opponents will be University of Alberta Pandas. Game time will be 6 p.m.
