Osoyoos RCMP have confirmed that a woman died after a jet ski collision on Osoyoos Lake over the weekend.
The woman and a man, both 24 years old, were involved in the accident.
Officers responded to a call to the collision just before 5 p.m. on Aug. 5.
The officers spoke to someone from a rental company, who said a boater had returned two jet skis, and that the people riding them were believed to have been in a collision.
The two riders were taken to shore by another boat after boaters heard calls for help coming from near a pair of unoccupied jet skis.
When help arrived, the New Westminster man was found conscious, but the woman, from Port Coquitlam, was unconscious. Life-saving efforts were attempted as the two were taken to shore, where more bystanders offered help.
The woman was taken away to be airlifted for treatment, but died of her injuries on her way.
The collision is under investigation and police are trying to determine if any criminal charges should be laid.
