September struggles continued Sunday for the WolfPack ball team against University British Columbia Thunderbirds.
The ’Pack lost both games of their doubleheader, losing 8-1 and 6-0. They finish the fall 0-8 against UBC.
Josh Snider of Moses Lake, Wash., started Game 1 on the mound for the WolfPack. He threw three innings, allowing five runs (all earned) on six hits and three walks. Bryant Jameus (Kamloops) came into relief in the fourth inning. He threw three innings as well, allowing three runs (all earned) on three hits and three walks. He struck out two batters.
Second baseman Josh Hillis (Calgary) led the offense for the ‘Pack in game one. He had a perfect day at the plate, going 2-2 with two singles and a RBI sacrifice fly. Adam Filmon (Winnipeg) had the team’s other hit.
The WolfPack sent Scott Wood (Stratford, Ont.) out to start game two. He threw three innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and one walk. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock) threw two innings. He gave up one run (earned) on zero hits and two hits by pitches. Duncan Elgert (Calgary) threw one inning, only allowing a walk.
The offense couldn’t get a run across in game two and only had six base runners; four hits and two walks.
It’s been a tough start for the WolfPack but they are determined to get back into the win column. They will be back in action next weekend at Norbrock Stadium in Kamloops against the Okanagan College Coyotes and the University of Fraser Valley Cascades on Saturday Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2.
