With the curtain about to rise on its 2016-2017 season, Western Canada Theatre invites volunteers to join the house as ushers at stage shows.
Volunteer fairs will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and Thursday, Sept. 8, 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Sagebrush Theatre, 1300 9th Ave.
More than 200 volunteers share their time and skills, donating about 10,000 hours each season as ushers. Ushers greet patrons, check tickets, work the concession and bar, check coats and escort patrons to their seats. They are also trained to assist with evacuations and safety issues in the event of an emergency.
If you are looking for opportunities to give back to your community, meet new people and see exciting theatre, music and dance, volunteering with WCT could be the right opportunity.
It could also be beneficial if you are seeking professional development opportunities to build skills and training, or looking for an internship experience that aligns with your education path.
Volunteer ushers are expected to commit to 10 shifts per season (September-June). Volunteers must attend evacuation and safety training prior to the start of each season.
