Two youths were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries Monday night after they were hit by a vehicle while crossing the Trans-Canada at Tanager Road in Valleyview.
The two 17-year-olds were crossing in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by the westbound car. Several witnesses indicated that the setting sun was extremely bright for westbound traffic at that point in time and that it was probably a contributing factor.
A collision reconstructionist attended the scene to conduct a thorough investigation into the crash, which continued well into the night.
Westbound traffic on Hwy . 1 was temporarily diverted to Valleyview Drive during the course of the investigation, while eastbound traffic was allowed through.
Kamloops RCMP thanked motorists for their patience during the accident response.
