A violent robbery at a gas station Tuesday night, July 18, has Kamloops RCMP on the lookout for a male suspect.

Around 7:30 p.m., a man entered the Petro Canada convenience store at Sydney Avenue and Fortune Drive, demanding that the attendant open the cash drawer. The man then struck the attendant in the face with a baseball bat. He stole cash from the drawer and lottery tickets from the counter before fleeing on foot.

The attendant suffered bruising on his face from the baseball bat. He went to RIH as a precaution but was released soon after.

Police describe the suspect as Caucasian, five feet, 10 inches tall with a thin build and an unshaven face. He was wearing a Blue Jays baseball cap, black sunglasses, black jogging pants and black gloves and was carrying a black backpack. The bat was yellow with a black shaft and handle.

Anyone who can identify this suspect or who has knowledge of this robbery is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800- 222-8477.

Gosh! That poor guy with the baseball bat probably wasn,t potty trained and suffered great trauma as a result. If he,s found and convicted he should be slapped on the wrist, given a conditional sentence and released and asked not to reoffend. He,s probably a real nice fella and was down a bit on his luck.
