Suspect sought after armed robbery

Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect who allegedly robbed a Petro Canada last week using a gun.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, a man entered the Petro Canada on 25th Avenue in Vernon and produced what appeared to be a handgun. He stole an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise and fled on foot.

“Police were on scene within minutes of the crime, but the suspect was not located,” says Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

“There were no customers in the store when this incident occurred.”

The one woman working in the store was not physically harmed, but Noseworthy says she was left shaken by the ordeal.

The man is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Mid 20s
  • Brown hair
  • Thin build

He was last seen wearing:

  • A Blue Jays baseball cap
  • Dark jacket
  • Black sweatpants
  • Multicoloured shoes
