A 19-year-old youth is in custody in connection with the stabbing of a cab driver early Wednesday.
The early-morning assault sent taxi driver Cal Huntington to RIH with life-threatening injuries.
Huntington remains in hospital, having suffered multiple stab wounds to his face and neck, but is expected to recover.
RCMP Sgt. Robert Daly indicated in a news release late Wednesday that a suspect was arrested after his description — along with clear video images of his face — were circulated earlier in the day. Police are crediting the public for a quick response in identifying the suspect from that information.
Early Wednesday, Hungtington picked up a fare at the Husky Station in Sahali and drove him to Pleasant Street near 8th Avenue, where the attack took place. The attacker fled on foot.
Kami Cabs manager Satinder Mann said the company intends to conduct a safety review after Wednesday's attack.
