Europe’s largest and most popular snow and music festival, Snowbombing, has a date next spring with Sun Peaks.
The award-winning event is known as one of the world’s most unique festival experiences, infusing a snow sports vacation with global headliners and DJs.
For two decades, the festival has drawn thousands of fans from around the world to the Tyrollean Alps in Mayrhofen, Austria. Festival organizers plan to replicate their “the best show on snow” in North America and have chosen to premiere it at Sun Peaks Resort.
“Twenty years ago when we started Snowbombing it was a very distant dream to one day do it in North America,” said Gareth Cooper, CEO of Broadwick Live Now. “With the help of an iconic brand like Coors Light, that dream is to become a reality and we are so proud and excited to be able to launch Coors Light Snowbombing Canada in the superbly stunning Sun Peaks Resort.”
They promise an experience like no other — mountain shacks, mystical forests stages, trail-side pool parties, road-block street carnivals, cosy alpine lodges and medieval barns. The mountains form their festival perimeter fence, complete with ski and snowboard competitions, DJ battles and other entertainment.
The festival is famous for delivering memorable musical performances in unusual and even surreal settings. Highlights from previous years include The Prodigy performing in the middle of an enchanted forest, Rudimental playing out to a captive crowd inside a real igloo and Kasabian taking to the stage at sunset, high up on a snow capped mountain.
“Not only is this one of the best ski locations in Canada, but strangely it looks just like our Austrian home, Mayrhofen,” We cannot wait to come and share our unique style of après ski and passion for music with the people of Canada.”
The 2017 lineup will be released this fall and will include global headliners and world-class artists. Full event and package details will be announced mid-August with package pricing including accommodation and festival tickets.
“Sun Peaks Resort is excited to partner with Coors Light Snowbombing Canada to host Canada’s greatest music festival on snow,” said Darcy Alexander, vice-president and general manager of Sun Peaks Resort. “Sun Peaks is coming off a record winter season and this partnership will help us attract new snow sport and music enthusiasts from around the globe. As we continue to evolve as a leading destination resort, I can think of no better way to celebrate than by announcing Sun Peaks will be home to one of the world’s premiere music festivals.”
