Vernon RCMP say a stolen front-end loader was used to knock over an ATM structure at Interior Savings Credit Union early Wednesday.
The bizarre crime happened about 2 a.m. when a loader drove up to the structure and knocked the machine over. The unknown suspect then fled the scene, says Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.
The ATM was damaged, but no access was gained to money inside.
Police located the abandoned loader in a parking lot on 41st Avenue.
Investigators determined it had been stolen earlier that morning from a business on Kalamalka Lake Road. It suffered only minor damage in the incident.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
