Soccer association to hire pro coach

September 15, 2016 11:30 A.M.

Kamloops Youth Soccer Association is getting set to hire a senior staff coach.

Applicants for the new position must possess a minimum Canadian Soccer Association Provincial B Licence coaching certification.

The individual selected for the position will work alongside KYSA Technical Director Ciaran McMahon.

"KYSA has been a leader amongst B.C. soccer associations for early adoption of long term player development strategies,” said KYSA President Graham Cope. "The addition of a full-time professional coach will allow our technical group to deliver programming to more athletes with a focus on developing technical skills and tactical awareness at all ages."

“Ciaran has done an excellent job for KYSA since he was hired 2-1/2 years ago,” added Keith Liddiard, KYSA executive director. “But having one individual overseeing the development and education of 3,700 players and some 600 parent-volunteer coaches has become an unrealistic expectation. We are running more programs than we have ever offered and our technical director needs help delivering our coach and player development initiatives.
