KELOWNA — A serious vehicle rollover on Postill Lake Road over the weekend sent eight teens to hospital.
RCMP Const. Jesse O’Donaghey said a late-model Ford F-150 pickup truck, travelling down the centre of the gravel roadway, attempted to move to the right to pass an oncoming vehicle on Saturday night about 8 p.m. when the driver failed to properly negotiate a curve.
The pickup truck, which had two passengers inside the cab and six more in the bed of the truck, flipped onto its roof.
All of the occupants were young men, who ranged in age from 16 to 18. They were transported to hospital. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
“Preliminary findings indicate that neither, alcohol nor drugs are believed to be contributing factors in this crash,” said O’Donaghey. “RCMP suspect that driver inexperience may have played a role, and perhaps road conditions which may have been wet and slippery at the time.”
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time, charges have not yet been laid.
