RIH event gives more reason to dance

July 11, 2016 11:50 A.M.

After receiving a million-dollar donation to improve breast health in the region last week, RIH Foundation has some more reasons to get up and dance.

Dancing Like the Stars, a fundraiser inspired by the hit TV reality series, returns Sept. 10 at the Coast Kamloops Hotel.

The local dance competition hosts some of the city’s best known business people, radio personalities and politicians who will be hitting the dance floor once again to show off their dancing skills, all to raise money for women’s breast health at RIH.

This year the lineup is bigger and — some say — better than ever. Dancers have been rehearsing, the emcees taking notes and judges brushing up on important considerations, such as the difference between a tango and a waltz.

Each team is supported by a local dance company and the 2016 dance partners are: Logan Giesbrecht & Raj Rana (Academy of Dance), Susan Brown & Tara Gostelow( Luki Dance Productions), Daljit Sadhra & Brandy Gozda (Academy of Dance), Cristina Ostopovitch & TJ Connors (Akimbo Dance Studio), and Todd & Chantelle Stone (Nuance Dance Studio).

Lorianna Bennet and Terry Lake MC the event while Lezra Martin, Larry Grant and Regina Bittner- Rothbart serve as judges.

Participants are advised to expect the unexpected during the evening, including fabulous food. Tickets are expected to sell out quickly. Call 250-314-2325 to purchase them.

Limited sponsorship opportunities and corporate tables are also available by calling Julie Kimmel at 250-318-7818.
