A vacant site in Brocklehurst could become a storage facility for recreational vehicles and boats if council approves a temporary use permit.
The parcel, located across from Kamloops Airport at 2973 Tranquille Rd., is zoned for service commercial and backs onto existing residential subdivisions.
Owner Karl Brauer proposes the facility, but the property’s current C4 zoning allows outdoor storage only as an accessory use. That led Bauer to apply for the temporary use permit under conditions allowed by Kamplan, the official community plan.
Those conditions allow a temporary use for up to three years if it does not have a negative impact on adjacent lands and does not permanently alter the site. There is also a three-year renewal option.
City staff recommend the temporary permit as a means to evaluate the potential impact on the neighbourhood, especially since it lies within the designated airport entry corridor, part of a long-term plan for the area that as adopted last year.
The application goes before council Tuesday, March 15.
