RCMP confirmed Friday, Aug. 19, that 57-year-old Michael Garthe was located, safe and sound.

Kelowna RCMP are seeking the public's help locating a man who was last seen three weeks ago.

Michael Garthe, 57, was last seen July 24.

Since reports were filed with police on Friday, Const. Jesse O'Donaghey says RCMP have followed up on several unsuccessful leads.

“Police say there's nothing to indicate foul play at this time, but they are concerned for his safety, and friends and family report that it is out of character for him to be out of contact for this long,” says O'Donaghey.

“Police believe that Michael Garthe may still be in Kelowna, but it's possible that he's gone to the North Okanagan or Kootenays, and may be in the Revelstoke area.”

RCMP add that Garthe is likely driving a white 1991 Volkswagen Golf with B.C. licence plate 070 HDR.

He is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • 57 years old
  • Five feet six inches tall
  • 154 pounds
  • brown hair
  • blue eyes

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Garthe or his vehicle is urged to contact their local police. Remain anonymous by calling CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477, leaving a tip online at or by texting your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
