A vehicle that appears to have been abandoned in Savona triggered a weekend search but so far no clues have turned up on its owner.
On Sunday, July 31, Kamloops Rural RCMP received a report of vehicle that appeared to be abandoned near the dump road in Savona.
Police found that the vehicle is registered to man from the Lower Mainland but he was not found in the immediate vicinity. Officers then searched the area on foot, with ATV’s and using a police dog. An RCMP patrol boat searched Kamloops Lake near the area as well.
On Monday, Aug. 1, Kamloops Search and Rescue volunteers were called in to assist police officers in checking the area again and to extend the search. As of noon Tuesday, Aug. 2, nothing had been found.
Police are attempting to locate the owner’s family to see they have had contact with him.
Foul play is not suspected and the search will continue until the registered owner is located.
