A new Montessori school in Juniper West – the Juniper Early Learning Centre – has opened its doors to offer toddler, pre school and after school programs to families in Kamloops.
The centre, at 2049 Highland Drive, is a brand new, modern facility on two floors with all-day and half-day toddler and pre-school programs along with an After School program for children ages 6-12.
Holly Schafer, who owns Kamloops Montessori, started the new centre with the intention of offering a Montessori curriculum and fully certified teachers in a new area of the city.
“We’re so excited to be able to provide a quality program in this neighbourhood,” said Schafer, who has been operating a Montessori school and programs in two separate locations within the Aberdeen neighbourhood for almost 20 years.
The centre features three separate classrooms structured to accommodate children of different ages, along with a kitchen and play area outside. Nine certified Montessori teachers will be working at the school, where customized classrooms, storage and play areas create a bright welcoming environment.
Schafer credits the quality construction and customized finishing by Juniper West Developments for the overall look and feel of the facility.
The opportunity to be part of Juniper West means students will also enjoy amenities close by such as walking trails and the Juniper community park, Schafer added.
Families with children in all areas of Kamloops are welcome, and after-school pickup options are available to children attending Juniper Ridge elementary.
The centre is still accepting students in its three levels of programming and Schafer has planned a parent orientation evening on Sept.13 from 6-7 p.m. Parents of current students are invited to attend along with any parents interested in learning more about the centre.
