A 19-year-old made his first appearance in court Thursday after police seized firearms and drugs, including an unknown “contraband substance.”
When the substance was found in the youth’s vehicle Thursday, police took no chances. Due to concerns about exposure to some illicit drugs, the federal Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) team was brought in to assist Kamloops RCMP with examination of the vehicle.
As well, suspected cocaine and tablets were seized from the vehicle. A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s residence and numerous firearms were found there.
The youth, who was previously known to police, was arrested and held in custody pending his court appearance. Police recommended to Crown charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of firearms, possession of an unauthorized firearm and possession of a loaded, restricted firearm.
