Polices say suspects in a gunfire investigation were unlawful residents of a North Kamloops house and have since moved on.

The “problem residence” in the 1300 block of 13th Street as been the cause of numerous police calls, the most recent being Wednesday, July 27, when they responded to a report of shots fired. Suspects were seen fleeing the area and two firearms were seized outside of the residence. No one was injured.

As a result of the investigation and with the co-operation of the homeowner, it was determined the people causing problems in the home were not tenants but people using an empty suite illegally. Officers found that there were as many as five people living in the house without lawful right.

Although the owner gave prior warning, the police attended to secure the residence Tuesday, Aug. 9, and arrest any suspects who were there illegally.  No one was in the house and the home has been secured.

The investigation into the shots fired at the residence continues with no arrests to date.
