The Vancouver Giants have missed the playoffs in two of the last three seasons, including 2014-15. That’s why they are talking about getting back to playing Giants’ hockey, which includes a heavy forechecking game and a lot of grit. With that in mind, they may well open the season with highly touted Tyler Benson on a line with Jackson Houck, who is coming off a down season, and newcomer Taylor Crunk. . . . Steve Ewen of the Vancouver Province has more right here.

In his last season of high school hockey, as a junior at Champlin Park, Minn., he had 20 points, seven of them goals, in 25 games. . . .
