The local running community is flexing its collective muscle again in aid of Deb Kennedy, a member who was injured in a road accident last month.
Tickets for the Friends of Deb Community Fundraiser Breakfast on Oct. 16 are available for $30 each from River City Realty, 726 Seymour St. As well, the organizers will be selling them at Runners Sole this Saturday, Sept. 24,11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Seating is limited and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Kennedy continues to recover from serious injuries she suffered while running the popular Three Bridge Loop on Aug. 28. She was released from RIH last weekend. She is recovering and hopes to take part in next spring’s Boogie the Bridge.
Originally, half the proceeds from next month’s breakfast were to go to Kennedy to assist with unexpected expenses that have come to light since the accident. However, four sponsors stepped up with donations, allowing full proceeds to assist the runner.
The breakfast starts at 10 a.m. There is a group meeting earlier at Double Tree by Hilton at 8 a.m. for a social, five- or 10-km walk/run, returning around 9:30 a.m.
Anyone who is unable to attend or would like to help out with a cash donation or auction item can email the Friends of Deb at firstname.lastname@example.org.
