Fireworks and more in store for Fanfest

A new season bring a new look and an improved Fanfest in Kamloops.

The City of Kamloops, in partnership with B.C. Lions Football Club, hosts the sixth annual B.C. Lions Fanfest Saturday, June 4. Fans of all ages are welcome to join in the festivities.

New this year, Fanfest will shift to an evening event culminating in a fireworks display presented by BCLC. 

Fanfest will kick off at Hillside Stadium at 5 p.m. and the event will run until 9:45 pm. The Lions will be conducting a football clinic from 6-6:45 p.m., offering local kids aged 6-13 a chance to learn from the pros! The Lions will be in action during their practice from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by an autograph session ending at 9:30 p.m. The evening will end with a bang with a fireworks display. Additionally, the Lions will take part in interviews throughout the evening. Fans will enjoy a multitude of entertainment, including performances by the Felions, the Lions’ dance team, and a chance to meet mascot Leo the Lion.

“Fanfest in Kamloops is one of the highlights of our pre-season calendar,” said Jamie Taras, director of community relations for the football team. “We are excited to roll out our new format with fireworks and football. We look forward to seeing you at Fanfest on June 4.”

Other activities include inflatable games and face painting, plus 2016 Lions gear at the merchandise tent. There will be food available from the Kamloops Lions Paddlewheelers and local food truck Eats Amore with partial proceeds going to Kamloops Community Football. Fans over the age of 19 can enjoy a cold one as well.
