RCMP officers surrounded a house with guns drawn on Columbia Street Monday afternoon, Sept. 26, prepared for the possibility of an armed standoff.
Fortunately, they were the only ones who were armed.
A search of the home near Second Avenue turned up no firearm, said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.
The incident was triggered by a complaint of a man carrying a firearm and last seen going into the residence.
Police officers responded and set up a perimeter around the house. They attempted to communicate with the occupants, using loud speakers, but got no response. Finally, after receiving no signs that anyone was home, an officer and police dog entered and confirmed that was the case.
Police will be speaking with the complainant for more detail, Shelkie said.
