UPDATE: 3:40 p.m.
West Kelowna fire Chief Jason Brolund says a grassfire above Westside Road Thursday night is suspicious.
Brolund says the investigation has now been turned over to the RCMP.
The cause of the grassfire near Bear Creek Provincial Park is unknown, but investigators believe it was human caused.
Two firefighters, one water tender and one command vehicle, along with 18 firefighters, responded to the fire at 10:30 p.m., Sept. 15, near Westside Road and Bear Creek Road.
The fire was approximately 60 square metres when crews arrived.
Firefighters quickly got the fire under control, and dug a hand-guard around it to prevent any spreading.
Westside Road was temporarily closed during the incident.
Investigators will return to the scene of the fire Friday and attempt to determine the cause.
