Alive After 5, a tourism initiative to attract business to the downtown, will have a two-week trial before the summer season draws to a close.
Focus Downtown, a committee representing the City, chamber, KCBIA, Venture Kamloops, Rocky Mountaineer and Tourism Kamloops is inviting all downtown merchants to join in the initiative.
The group is going ahead with the campaign, Aug. 22-26 and Aug. 29-Sept. 2, encouraging merchants to stay open until 9 p.m. on two successive weekday periods, Monday through Friday.
Already, some merchants have signed on, including: Jardines-Domaine; 4CATS Art Studio; McAllister & Howard; Mainstreet Clothing; Caffe Motivo; Big Boot Inn & Red Wing Shoes; Blue Sky Clothing; Oronge Boardshop; Save On Foods; Art We Are; Scoopz; All Aboard Games, Eagle Eye Gifts and various restaurants.
Focus Downtown intends to start promoting the initiative, which will include live music, through social and conventional media.
