TRU campus carried on as usual Monday morning as mediated talks between the faculty union and university administration continued for a fourth straight day.
Independent mediator Mark Brown has been attempting to bring the two parties closer together in hope of reaching a collective agreement after a year of failed attempts to find common ground. Faculty maintain that collegial governance, in which they want a greater say, is a key issue, not wages.
On Friday, TRU Faculty Association characterized mediation as a last-ditch effort to avoid escalating job action. At that stage, Brown was to have been aboard a 7 a.m. flight Monday from Kamloops. The parties were at the table through the weekend.
Although periodic updates are posted at www.tru.ca, a media blackout continues during mediation.
