Brazen thief caught on store video camera

July 11, 2016 2:03 P.M.

A small grocer in Aberdeen lost about $4,000 in lottery tickets and cigarettes in an early-morning break-in Monday.

Kamloops RCMP are asking for public help to identify the thief after responding to a business alarm at Twin Rivers Market on Hugh Allan Driver around 2:30 a.m.

When officers arrived they found that someone had gained entry into the store through the front door by breaking the glass with a rock. The suspect had already left the area.

Surveillance video showed a lone male smashing the window and then stealing cigarettes and lottery tickets by breaking cabinets behind the counter. The male then exited the store and drove away in a dark-coloured vehicle.

The male was wearing a black balaclava, a thick yellowish work jacket with a hood and white gloves, and carrying a black duffel bag.

If you can identify the suspect or have any information about this theft contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
