Repairs to the Canada Games Aquatic Centre are taking longer than expected, the City announced on Thursday.
A break in the main water supply pipe forced the closure of the pool on July 23.
City staff decided to combine the repairs — which required the draining of the pool — with their annual maintenance shutdown and had hoped to reopen the popular facility on Aug. 7. That way, fewer staff resources were needed. Once both projects are complete, the centre will be able to remain open for the remainder of the summer.
However, as a result of the delay, the pool won’t reopen until Monday, Aug. 10, starting at 6 a.m.

The Tournament Capital Centre that houses the aquatic centre has remained open throughout the project.
