TRU WolfPack baseball's fall season begins this weekend when they entertain UBC Thunderbirds for a pair of doubleheaders at Norbrock Stadium.
The WolfPack have been practicing for almost a week and had 27 new players try out.
Head coach Ray Chadwick has 15 returnees from the team which finished third in the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Conference in the spring. He plans to go with a 40-man roster during the fall campaign.
“Our fall is all exhibition with everyone getting a chance to play and show they want to be here in the spring," he said. “The large numbers make them compete for playing time against each other. This makes them better, which makes us better when it comes to competing against other teams.”
Chadwick feels right now, the WolfPack look better defensively than in the spring with more speed and more power: “We have a good crop of new guys all around.”
Game times Saturday are 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, and noon and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
TRU will play 30 games in the spring. The next home game will be Saturday, Oct. 1, against Okanagan College Coyotes and University of Fraser Valley Cascades.
